Beams 04:18
now one day we will follow a golden beam of light | right now we’re feeling empty, but we will fly this time | we put one foot in front of other | we see candles in our minds | you are so far away but always in the same room | so I follow you through sunlight | on roads painted with trees | the flowers aren’t in bloom yet | but I feel you in the leaves | the fish were swimming spirals | and I knew you could be heard | you are so far away but always in the same room | you are flying higher without falling down |
2.
Stratus 04:48
If only you’d find a light within | taking your time to forgive | your heartbeat is louder now | languid | forsake your worried head | wait outside | breathe smoke and hide | saved your life a few time | your armor is stronger now that your dead | the spirit of this house now has fled | before there was time he knew your name | out goes the eternal flame | falling down | toward the sky | finally you’ve landed | talk to me through stratus | stand close the edge | it’s a long way down | hopefully hoping the earth’s below | when you were not there | I had to breathe alone | finding my oxygen | I fell down to my knees | a sigh of relief | I’ve been shot down over and over by my own hands | and now you know all of my weapons have been abandoned | there’s been many times when I’d bleed just to know your name | I reach up into the sky and float away
3.
I wanted to throw the dirt around my heart | now wait a minute | wait a minute | they’ve outgrown it but I’ve not | now the voice is getting louder it’s audible | undeniable | you know it’s time to cloud your senses | dull it down | shield your eyes from the flame | can you feel me astral traveling | can see me walking through walls | now that I’ve met you | I’ve met you at last | now that I’ve met you | I’ve met you at last |
4.
Dinosaur 04:08
If all the roads do turn into canyons stretching far | if all the houses sink into rising oceans | if all the people turn into creatures down below | I want you know | that I’ll be waiting for you | I’ll be waiting for you | I’ll be waiting for you | say goodnight | go to sleep | say goodnight | go to sleep | I am tired | I am weary | I am weary | I am weary |
5.
Space Dream 05:04
gone away | gone away | floating to the moon | take our picture while we wave | cold night | cold night | wondering where I’ve been | underwater and under that | long ago | long ago | you were crushing bone | barely able to ascend | now | now that they’ve found you | you’re awake | now everything has changed | now that they’ve found you | kill everything in your path | see it’s me that your looking for | I’m not immune | my eyes are open |
6.
Bardo 08:12
7.
Blindish 03:37
how many years have you been asleep | have you lost your eyes to the dark | what will you find when you wake up | will you see anything at all | if we ever get out of here would light burn our skin | I swam alone so many nights | will I remember my own face | I cannot recognize my brother’s | long way to go | how many miles have you traveled | to see that set of eyes look back at you | let’s see how long we can hold our breath | hold our breath | if we ever get out of here would light burn our skin | I swam alone so many nights | will I remember my own face | I cannot recognize my brother’s |
8.
Low High 03:46
am I crazy or am I dumb to think that we’re all together and alone at the same time | your wires speak | neurons travel into our screens | seems like I would rather be somewhere else other than where I am at and it shows on my face | all I ask from you my god is place beneath the sea where I can escape the invisible | your wires speak | neurons traveling into our screens |
9.
The Wheel 04:32
you shall be exalted | I shall be released | you know that time fades away | this illusory burden that we carry | it’s hard to get it | it’s hard to give it | don’t want to fall asleep at the wheel | don’t want to lose my grip and fly right through the shield | and then the road it widens and we glide | from left to right | you carry me through wind and rain | you save me from my self inflicted pain | yeah through wind and rain| through wind and rain |
10.
Golden Light 02:30
I fall | when you enter my mind | I see | when you enter my mind | I sleep | like a child when it’s crying | suddenly | it’s all calmed with a smile | and when it does I’m alright | when it does I’m always | holy | holy golden light | holy | golden light | I’m getting over this |
11.
Cloud Hug 04:29
The sound of your voice coming | the way you remove my fear | the tyrants choose endless summer | the way we are | the songs you sing run away with me | safe and sound is the way I feel with you | maybe we aren’t getting younger | the self will is stronger than our mind | you are not to blame for any of this | the song you sing dwells in this house | let us live in the sunlight of your eyes | the sound of your voice coming | the way you remove my fear | the tyrants choose endless summer | the way we are | the songs your sing run away with me | safe and sound is the way I feel with you |

about

Back in 2014, Aaron Collins was working at a coffee shop that never had any customers, but did have a piano. During slow shifts he began to work on what would become the foundations for Cloud Hug. Having grown up in a house with a piano, this album feels like a return home. All the songs are piano and vocal based. There are no drums. The only percussion is the piano itself. The piano was recorded primarily at The Lodge in Dayton, KY. Vocals and additional piano were recorded in the sanctuary at University Christian Church/Rohs Street Cafe in Cincinnati, OH.

"This album is my pain, my joy, my darkness, my light, my love, my longing, my work and my rest. These are the songs that came through me in a time that was shrouded in darkness, but in that darkness I was able to find some strength and beauty. As my grandfather always says, "Life is Dukkha" which doesn't really translate to english, but means something like life is "fierce" or "always changing". I hope that these songs embrace you".
